Junior – Colonias de Inmersión
The Glorious Highland Games Camp
In September Junior 5 and 6 took part in an amazing programme. They had the opportunity to practice their second language in contact with native speakers, while they learned about other cultures in an enjoyable manner.
They arrived at the The Borough on a freezing morning. Once they had gone through Customs the activities of the Highland Games Camp began. Spanish was forbidden at all times. Each participant joined a powerful clan, learned Scottish dances and sports, tasted typical food, sang songs and baked cookies. They could also apply for jobs according to their personal preferences and skills.
The camp ended with the final tournament as the warriors painted their faces before playing the sports and deciding who was victorious.
This was an unforgettable experience that proves the undeniable potential of non-formal learning settings.
