El 17 de agosto realizamos el Acto de Conmemoración del Paso a la Inmortalidad del General San Martín. En cada rincón del Colegio se recordó su figura histórica y simbólica.

En Kinder representamos con palabras, juegos y bricollage el paso por los Ándes y compartimos un Té en familia, en honor a nuestro querido Prócer.

La maestra de Junior 1 compartió con los alumnos sus reflexiones sobre este prócer cuyo ideal de unidad y libertad nos enseña a ser capaces de enfrentar los desafíos para alcanzar los sueños.

Los alumnos de Junior recitaron un poema en su honor, comentaron las máximas dedicadas a Merceditas y compartieron datos llamativos sobre la Batalla de San Lorenzo, fruto de su visita al Convento San Carlos este año. Cerramos el homenaje a nuestro Padre de la Patria cantando la marcha de San Lorenzo.

En Secondary recordamos a través del arte los hitos principales del legado Sanmartiniano, así como los «mitos y verdades» de su historia.

Kinder investigó durante las últimas semanas acerca de la vida de San Martín. Aprendieron acerca de su valentía, honestidad y por qué fue nombrado Padre y Salvador de nuestra Nación.

Invitamos a los padres a rendirle homenaje: Kinder 2conmemoró su figura pintando la Cordillera con rodillos y realizaron expresión corporal siguiendo la marcha de San Lorenzo. Kinder 3 pintó granaderos y dramatizó el cruce de los Andes realizando un circuito. Kinder 4 contó la historia del prócer con un mural pintado por ellos y luego jugando en pequeños grupos con dados gigantes “Cruzando los Andes’’ con cordilleras confeccionada con material descartable. Kinder 5 preparó un cuento con imágenes de los principales hechos de la vida de San Martín y luego completó un crucigrama relacionado con lo que aprendieron.

Kinder investigated for the last weeks about San Martin’s life. They learnt about how brave and courageous he was and why he was named Father and Saviour of our Nation.
We invited the parents to pay tribute to him: Kinder 2 commemorated his figure painting the Cordillera with rollers and with body expression following the march of San Lorenzo. Kinder 3 painted grenadiers and dramatized the crossing of the Andes following a circuit. Kinder 4 told the story of the hero using a mural and then played in small groups with giant dices “Crossing the Andes‘’using mountains made of disposable material. Kinder 5 prepared a story with images of the main facts of San Martín’s life and then completed a crossword puzzle.

Durante la tercera semana de agosto, en el Kinder agasajamos a nuestros alumnos con actividades lúdicas y comunitarias para festejar el Día del Niño. La entrada y el pasillo del jardín estaba colorida decorada con globos, payasos y banderines.

Realizamos juegos recreativos, hubo un show de circo “YO LA VI PRIMERO”,

Kinder Staff dramatizó un cuento con canciones y nos visitó nuevamente el carrito de pochoclos y copos de azúcar “Sweet Loly”. ¡Qué divertido todo lo que hicimos!

También estuvo presente el trabajo comunitario. Los niños ayudaron a rellenar vasos coloridos con cosas ricas para llevar al Hogar Confiar. ¡Qué bueno aprender desde pequeños que es importante hacer feliz a otros!

¡Muchas gracias a todos los que colaboraron con esta Campaña de la semana del niño solidaria que comenzamos hace varios años de la mano de nuestro Community ServiceTeam!

HAPPY CHILD´S DAY!!!

During the third week of August, in Kindergarten we entertained our students with fun and helpful activities to celebrate Children’s Day. The entrance and hallway of the Kinder was colourful decorated with balloons, clowns and banners.

We played recreational games, there was a circus show «YO LA VI PRIMERO»,

Kinder Staff dramatized a story about songs and a pop corn cart and sugar flakes visited us on Friday. What fun!

Community work was also present. The children helped filling up colourful glasses with YUMMY YUMMY things to take to the Hogar Confiar. It’s good to learn from an early age that it’s important to make others happy!

Many thanks to all who collaborated with this Week of Solidarity Child’s Campaign that we started several years ago with our Community ServiceTeam!

During the lasts weeks, Kinder 3 has been working on a project about pets and vets. They investigated what a pet was and their characteristics. The teacher read them books and showed them some videos. They were able to learn that a pet is an animal that lives at home and is taken care of by members of the family. They also learnt that wild animals are not pets because they can’t live in houses.

To finish off their project, three vets came to visit our Kinder. They brought dogs, “Chita” and Bubba” and two chicks. One of the vets was Dolores, Amadeo´s mother. She told them about the special cares a pet requires. Also all the things a dog needs to grow healthily and happily. They were able to listen to its heart with a stethoscope, look inside its ear and took Chita for a walk.

After this wonderful experience, the children were very motivated so they pretended they were vets who worked in a pet shop. The classroom was transformed into a Pet shop and the children dressed up as vets and played with their own stuffed animals. They had lots of fun while they learnt interesting things!

IT WAS A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!

Durante las últimas semanas, Kinder 3 ha estado trabajando en un proyecto sobre mascotas y veterinarios. Investigaron lo qué era una mascota y sus características. Su maestra les mostró y leyó libros sobre el tema. Aprendieron que una mascota es un animal que vive en casa y es cuidado por los miembros de la familia. También que los animales salvajes no son mascotas porque no pueden vivir en casas.

Para finalizar su proyecto, tres veterinarios vinieron de visita. Trajeron dos perros, «Chita» y Bubba » pollitos. Una de las veterinarias era Dolores, la mamá de Amadeo. Les contó sobre los cuidados especiales que requiere una mascota. También todas las cosas que un perro necesita para crecer saludable y feliz. Escucharon su corazón con un estetoscopio, miraron dentro de su oreja y llevaron a Chita a dar un paseo por nuestro parque.

Después de la visita, los niños estaban muy motivados así que transformaron la sala en una veterinaria y jugaron a que eran veterinarios. Se caracterizaron y jugaron con sus propios animales de peluche. ¡Se divirtieron mucho mientras aprendían cosas interesantes!

The five-year-olds have been learning about their bodies. They learnt and dramatized songs such as “HOKEY POKEY AND HEAD AND SHOULDERS”, played games and were able to name and recognize the vocabulary. They investigated together about the senses and found out that they allow us to observe and understand the world around us. There are five main ways we can do this: through sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing. They had fun experimenting with them.

They also created a monster using their imagination! Their monsters ended up with three heads, only one eye and six legs or two noses!

As a closure for the unit “My Body” Kinder 5 prepared faces using trays of cardboard and disposable material. After they were dry they painted them and took them home.

Los niños de cinco años han estado aprendiendo acerca de sus cuerpos. Aprendieron y dramatizaron canciones como «HOKEY POKEY Y HEAD AND SHOULDERS», jugaron juegos y fueron capaces de nombrar y reconocer el vocabulario. Investigaron juntos sobre los sentidos y descubrieron que nos permiten observar y entender el mundo que nos rodea. Hay cinco maneras principales de hacerlo: a través de la vista, el tacto, el olfato, el gusto y la audición. Se divirtieron experimentando con ellos.

¡También crearon un monstruo usando su imaginación! Sus monstruos terminaron con tres cabezas, ¡sólo un ojo y seis patas o dos narices!

Como cierre para la unidad «My Body» Kinder 5 preparó caras utilizando bandejas de cartón y material desechable. Después de que estuvieron secos los pintaron y los llevaron a casa.

Promover un contexto adecuado para poner el mundo letrado al alcance de los niños supone organizar las salas para interactuar de manera significativa con variados y numerosos materiales escritos. Se trata de hacer circular distintos portadores de informaciones para aprender a leer y escribir en el marco de situaciones organizadas en distintas modalidades de enseñanza. A partir de su frecuentación y mediante la intervención sostenida del docente, estas escrituras se constituyen, en valiosas fuentes de información para producir e interpretar nuevas escrituras.

Los alumnos tienen la oportunidad de participar de múltiples situaciones como intercambios orales; escuchar leer al docente; lecturas cotidianas en torno a la biblioteca de la sala; lectura y escritura de nombres; realizar lecturas exploratorias de textos de divulgación; producción e interacción con fuentes de información en el marco de proyectos; tomar notas por sí mismos o por dictado al docente; escribir, revisar y editar textos para difundir lo aprendido por medio del dictado al docente o por sí mismos.

Promoting an adequate context to make the literate world accessible to children means organizing classrooms to interact meaningfully with a variety of written materials. It is about circulating different types of texts to learn to read and write in the context of different organized teaching modalities.The frequent and sustained intervention of the teacher, turn them in valuable sources of information to produce and interpret new writing.

Students have the opportunity to participate in multiple situations such as oral exchanges; Listen to reading ; Daily readings around the classroom library ; Reading and writing names; Conduct exploratory readings of a various texts; Production and interaction with information sources in the framework of projects; Taking notes by themselves or by dictation; Write, review and edit texts to disseminate what has been learnt through dictation to the teacher or by themselves.

El jueves 6 de julio, a pesar del frío y de la lluvia, celebramos con mucho entusiasmo nuestra Independencia. Nos visitaron los abuelos de los niños de Kinder y con el lema “Caminamos juntos hacia la Independencia“compartimos una tarde inolvidable para grandes y pequeños.

Abuelos, nietos y maestros entonaron canciones infantiles alusivas a la fecha; reconstruyeron los hechos y conceptos más importantes de del 9 de Julio utilizando imágenes; realizaron expresión corporal con cintas celestes y blancas y prepararon un mensaje de libertad para decorar el jardín.

Para finalizar tomaron una rica merienda en el comedor del colegio mientras observaban videos de sus nietos y recibían un recuerdo para llevarse a casa.

Cumplimos el objetivo de este festejo que fue es valorar el rol de los abuelos como símbolo de unidad familiar fortaleciendo los vínculo generacionales.

On Thursday July 6^th, despite the cold and the rain, we celebrated our Independence with great enthusiasm. The grandparents visited our Kindergarten and with the motto «We walk together towards the Independence» we shared an unforgettable afternoon.

Grandparents, grandchildren and teachers sang songs alluding to the date; reconstructed the most important facts and concepts using images; Made corporal expression with light blue and white ribbons and prepared freedom messages to decorate the Kinder.

Finally they all shared a delicious snack in the lunch room while watching videos of their grandchildren. They also received a souvenir card to take home.

We fulfilled the objective of this celebration which was to value the role of the grandparents as a symbol of family unity by strengthening the generational bonds.

Durante la semana pasada las salas de Kinder estuvieron trabajando con talleres de cooperación y convivencia. Es importante que los niños puedan buscar distintos modos de resolución de conflictos basados en actitudes, para poder fundar valores a futuro.

Trabajaron con imágenes para opinar acerca de resoluciones de conflictos, de la importancia de trabajar en grupo y ayudar a los amigos. Elaboraron reglamentos, escribieron mensajes con valores y confeccionaron una cartelera para exponer y compartir con las familias.

El Aprendizaje cooperativo es una estrategia exitosa que generalmente se lleva a cabo en un grupo pequeño de niños o con toda la clase, trabajando juntos con el mismo objetivo. Cada alumno es responsable no sólo de su aprendizaje sino también de ayudar al resto de los compañeros.

Nosotros elegimos caminar juntos…

COOPERATION AGREEMENTS

During the past week Kinder has been working with cooperation and coexistence agreements. It is important that children can look for different ways of conflict resolution based on attitudes, so that future values can be found.

They worked with images to express opinions about conflict resolutions, the importance of working in groups and helping friends. They agreed on classroom rules, wrote messages about values and made a poster to expose and share with families.

Cooperative Learning is a successful strategy that usually takes place in a small group of children or with the whole class, working together for the same purpose. Each student is responsible not only for their learning but also to help the rest of the classmates.

Kinder tiene material nuevo para jugar y trabajar. Consiste en bloques magnéticos diseñados de tal manera que pueden ser ensartarse entre sí, sin necesidad de piezas adicionales. Estos ayudan a fomentar el desarrollo intelectual a través de la diversión, el juego creativo educativo y la exploración. El mismo también ayuda a promover la integración de grupos, el trabajo en equipo y mejorar su comunicación y habilidades motoras.

Las varitas o punteros son excelentes como herramienta de lectura para principiantes que necesitan ubicar letras o palabras. Las pueden utilizar en lugar de su dedo. Los punteros largos son divertidos para señalizar en el pizarrón y así ubicar una letra o palabra. También para realizar búsqueda de letras / palabras en la sala.

Las letras del alfabeto son los fundamentales para utilizar en lectores emergentes. Los maestros enfatizan el papel de las habilidades alfabéticas y la conciencia fonológica en el jardín de infantes. Estas letras coloridas hacen que el aprendizaje de estos conceptos básicos sea divertido y el material concreto permite que las actividades sean significativas y memorables.

Los sobres reutilizables ayudan a reducir el desperdicio de papel y ayudan a cuidar el medio ambiente. Los usamos en rincones de trabajo, actividades de libre elección y para propósitos de práctica de contenidos.

Nuestros alumnos están muy entusiasmados con este nuevo material y están haciendo buen uso de él en sus actividades diarias! Y hay más…

Kinder has new classroom material to play and work with. It consists of magnetic blocks designed in a way that they can be latched onto each other without the need of additional parts.

These blocks sets help to foster brain development through fun and educational creative play and exploration. It also helps to promote group integration, team work and improve their communication and motor skills.

Pointers as a Reading Tool are excellent for beginning readers who need to track words. They can use is instead of their finger. Long pointers are fun to model on the blackboard and to go on a letter or word hunt around the classroom and pointing races.

Alphabet letters are the basics to use in the early years for emergent readers. Teachers emphasize the role of alpha-betic skills and phonological awareness in kindergarten. These letter shapes make learning these basic concepts fun with hands-on activities that are meaningful and memorable.

The write and wipe pockets help reduce paper wastage and help save the environment. They turn paper into a reusable write and wipe activity. We use them in work stations, free choice activities and for practising purposes.

Our students are very enthusiastic about this new material and are making good use of it in their daily activities! And there is more to come…
